Mandala Stones

This is a great little book! As well as beautiful designs, it has great guides for choosing your stones, selecting tools and materials, painting techniques, and creating your own designs. Perfect for beginners, but still plenty to offer those with experience.

This book it a work of art! I loved looking through the different designs. The colours and art work are truly fantastic. It made me very inspired to try it myself, which I did! It was lots of fun trying some of the suggested ideas and teqniques from the many wonderful ones shown and explained in the book. The author goes into great detail into the designs and teqniques she has used which make it easy to follow. I only had basic acrylic paints and brushes and I produced a few designs I didn't think I'd be capable of, I even had my children involved. My 11 year old daughter found it very interesting and took time to study the book to get some ideas of what she wanted to paint. Fantastic book for any craft lover to have on their book shelf to look through over and over again as I will do!

The book starts with a detailed history and explanation of mandalas and then talks you through tools materials and patterns. Each design has clear easy to follow step by step instructions. Projects are ranked by skill level so this book would suit a complete beginner to someone more experienced. I am already gathering supplies to begin creating my own mandala stones. The book would make a lovey gift as would the finished stones.

This book is bursting with ideas and tips on how to paint your own mandala stones. Given that I live near a beach this is something I've often fancied trying but didn't know where to start and the finished products make lovely gifts or decoration for the garden. Mandala Stones book is an item I think would make a perfect gift for anyone looking to take up a new hobby or who is interested in arts and crafts, it's even great for children (although some of the designs would need some practice for younger children). I've no doubt I'll be spending many a summer with my son looking for the perfect stones to paint.

What a great book! It's full of colour and a nice fairly big format. Basically find your stone (larger than a pebble would be great), ask permission (check the local regulations and check with the stone!) then paint a simple but beautiful design on it and place it on display, or on your altar. You are given guidance on all the materials and tools required: the author then gives us 50 designs with plans on how to approach creating them. For example there's a Lightburst and Fibonacci Glow - they're not as intricate as buddist mandalas but they are all basically circular and very pleasing on the eye.
