Books by Palestinian Authors
Here we highlight some of our staff's favourite work by Palestinian authors, from fiction and history, to poetry and food-writing. Kira recommends Susan Abulhawa's Against the Loveless World, describing it as a "fully immersive narrative", as well as Raja Shehadeh's We Could Have Been Friends, My Father and I, which she holds up as "a must read". Jenna picks Adania Shibli's Minor Detail, calling it "a marvel of a book." Molly says Zaina Arafat's You Exist Too Much is "a compelling and elegant debut". Selena is currently reading Isabella Hammad's The Parisian. And Marc sings the praises of Rashid Khalidi's clear-eyed The Hundred Years' War on Palestine and Mahmoud Darwish's astonishing poems collected in The Butterfly's Burden.
