22.5 – 30 hours p/w, open to discussion depending on the candidate. A standard working day is 9:45am to 6:15pm, including one hour unpaid lunch break. You will be required to work 1 weekend day each week (either Saturday or Sunday). On rotation, staff may be required to work full weekends every once in a while.


£9.50p/h. We’re an accredited real Living Wage employer, meaning we will always pay our team, whether part time or full time, at least the real Living Wage (currently set at £9.50 p/h), plus an annual bonus where possible.


28 days per year pro rata including Christmas day and New Year’s Day.

Introduction to the business
The Portobello Bookshop is an independent bookshop based by the seaside in Edinburgh. We’re a small team with every member of staff helping out in most daily aspects  of the shop, whether that be helping customers on the shop floor and over the phone, or responding to emails and ensuring stock is well maintained and categorised, processing web orders and helping with events.
