Papercut Punk - Folk Art Papercutting Masterclass at The Portobello Bookshop

We're so excited to welcome local artist Ruthie P, also known as Papercut Punk, to the bookshop for a papercutting masterclass, focusing on folk art forms.

You'll receive a bespoke Portobello Bookshop Masterclasses notebook to sketch out ideas or jot down notes during the workshop session.

Ruthie P aka Papercut Punk is a papercut artist based in Portobello. She fell in love with this mindful, meditative artform 12 years ago and things were never the same again. Her work can be seen in the windows of Portobello Town Hall and in homes all over the world through her commissions and one off pieces. She draws inspiration from birds and nature, song lyrics, the sea and most recently the circus and dark fairy tales. Ruth has been running workshops for 10 years and loves sharing her paper obsession with others.

Over the two hour workshop, participants will be taught the deceptively simple basics of papercutting and then guided through a selection of adaptable templates made from Papercut Punk's original flock of folk art birds. No drawing skills required and going rogue is thoroughly encouraged!

Please note that this workshop uses sharp scalpels and is suitable for over 18s only.

Please note: Tickets for our events are non-refundable. Professional photography and videography may take place during this event. Thank you for your understanding.
