Emma Christie – Find Her First at The Portobello Bookshop

We're so excited to be welcoming Emma Christie to the bookshop to celebrate the publication day launch of Find Her First, her gripping new thriller set in Portobello. She'll be in conversation with Dr Jacky Collins AKA Dr Noir.

About Find Her First:

A missing wife. A guilty husband. But it’s not what you think…

Where is Stef Campbell? And who can be trusted to bring her home?

Paramedic Andy Campbell has a secret he can’t tell anyone, not least the police.

But when his missing wife’s image is found at the home of a suspected killer, detectives start asking questions, and they’re not the only ones…

The race for truth leads them far from their Edinburgh home – but who will find her first, and will they save her life or take it?

Emma Christie's debut novel, The Silent Daughter, was shortlisted for the McIlvanney Prize for the Best Scottish Crime Book of the Year and shortlisted for the Bloody Scotland Scottish Debut of the Year and longlisted for the CWA New Blood Dagger Award. Both of Emma's novels are standalone but they share the setting of one of her favourite places: Portobello. Emma launched Diary of a Debut Novelist in September 2020, a community and digital event platform for the UK's most exciting debuts. She is also a founding member of the Caledonia Crime Collective.

We are planning for this event to take place in the bookshop with a small in-person audience, as well as a livestream for attendees watching from home. However, depending on COVID regulations at the time of the event, those purchasing the in-person audience option will also receive the link to watch the event from home, should we be unable to welcome people to the bookshop on the night. Following Scottish Government advice and guidelines, in-person audience attendees will be asked to wear a face covering inside the bookshop unless they are exempt.

When you purchase a signed – and if requested, dedicated – copy of Find Her First via the options below, you will also receive access to the livestream of the event. There is also an option to purchase a £3 voucher which provides access to the livestream. The voucher can be used on any item in the bookshop and on our website – including other books by Emma Christie. Please consider supporting the bookshop by purchasing a book or voucher, however we are also offering a Free Livestream Ticket option for this event.

Please note: Tickets for our events are non-refundable. Professional photography and videography may take place during this event. Thank you for your understanding.
