Adrian Edmondson – Berserker! at Assembly Rooms

Doors open at 6:45pm.

Books for Book & Ticket options will be available to collect at the venue on the night.

Join us for an evening with Adrian Edmondson in Edinburgh to celebrate the publication of his memoir, Berserker!

How did a child brought up in a strict Methodist household – and who spent his formative years incarcerated in repressive boarding schools – end up joining the comedy revolution? Could it be in his Scandinavian (… possibly berserker) heritage?

Live on stage, Edmondson will take audiences from his days breaking the rules at his brutal boarding school to the comedy circuit of the eighties when he finally found his place in the world. Edmondson will share previously unheard stories from his comedy partnership with Rik Mayall with whom he created iconic sitcoms such as The Young Ones and Bottom and brought anarchy and eccentricity to stage and screen.

Now a British comedy legend, Edmondson will look back on his life and answer your own burning questions. Expect star-studded anecdotes and a healthy dose of nostalgia from an extraordinary, comedy-filled life effortlessly weaved together by Edmondson’s unique wit and gift for storytelling.

This event will take place in the Assembly Rooms on George Street. There will not be a book signing on the night.

Professional photography may be taking place at the venue on the night. Please note that as per our terms and conditions, tickets for our events are non-refundable. Latecomers may not be admitted, please arrive promptly.

Adrian Edmondson Author

Adrian Charles Edmondson is an English actor, comedian, musician, writer and television presenter. He studied drama at Manchester University where he met his comedy partner Rik Mayall. The influence of the absurdist dramatists he studied and his early love for The Goons, The Muppets and Monty Python are all reflected in his comedy practice. He and Rik were part of the first wave of Alternative Comedy where their glorious pursuit of laughter and anarchic performances changed the comedic landscape forever.

He starred as Vyvyan in The Young Ones, the series that blasted its way onto our screens tearing into our preconceptions of what television comedy could be. Adrian has since had a very significant career. A career that has taken him in later years into 'straight' acting as well, at the RSC, BBC TV’s War and Peace and EastEnders, and as a writer of books for adults and children. He has also had an award-winning music career with his band The Bad Shepherds, which fused punk and folk.
