Weisheng Wang was born in 1968. He got his Ph.D degree from the School of Electrical Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1996. He is currently the chief engineer of China Electric Power Research Institute Co., Ltd., professorate senior engineer, and doctoral supervisor. He has been engaged in the research of renewable energy generation, operation and control technology for more than twenty years. He and his team tackled a couple of the technical issues of large-scale renewable energy integration, including the cascading tripping-off of renewable energy generation units and the broadband oscillation incidents. They also developed a renewable energy power prediction and scheduling optimization system. He has led the building up of the Zhangbei Test Base, which is the world's largest field test base and the only one with the AC/DC grid-connected conditions and with all performance testing functions for renewable energy units. His research results have been widely applied, supporting the safe and stable operation and the efficient accommodation of large-scale renewable energy in China. He has won 3 second prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award and 8 first prizes of the provincial and ministerial science and technology progress award. He has authorized 18 invention patents, 5 books, and more than 100 papers. He has supervised 28 postdoctoral, doctoral and master students. Weisheng Wang is IEEE Senior Member, Fellow of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and Fellow of China Renewable Energy Society.
