Tom Spink Author

Tim Wilmshurst has had a varied career of electronic and embedded system design and teaching at the Universities of Cambridge and Derby, where he was Head of Electronics over a number of years. He is the author of a number of leading textbooks on embedded system design. In his teaching, Tim is passionate about “learning through doing”, and is a frequent user of problem-based learning. He is now a freelance technical author and educator. Rob Toulson is Professor of Creative Industries: Commercial Music at the University of Westminster, as well as Founder and Director of RT Sixty Ltd., a company that develops innovative applications for the audio-visual and music industries. Professor Toulson is a world-leading expert in audio-visual mobile applications, digital signal processing, embedded systems, musical acoustics, music production and interactive sound design. Dr Tom Spink is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of St Andrews, and previously a Senior Researcher at the University of Edinburgh. Throughout his research, he has pioneered the use of hardware virtualisation support for dynamic binary translation and is currently investigating how IoT systems can be efficiently virtualised at scale. He is broadly interested in the area of computer systems, and more specifically compilers, runtimes, virtualisation, and operating systems.
