Tom Ravenscroft Author

Tom Ravenscroft founded Enabling Enterprise in 2009, whilst teaching Business and Enterprise in a secondary school in Hackney. Through his teaching he realised that getting students to work in teams and giving them ownership over long term projects instilled in them greater confidence, and developed valuable transferable skills. He started to implement a more practical, project-based way of learning in his own lessons and then formalised this enterprising philosophy through programmes that could be more widely distributed. As CEO of Enabling Enterprise, Tom has led the growth of the organisation from working with a single class to having over 85,000 students enrolled on our programmes in the last year. This has been supported by over 100 great businesses and funders. Tom's work has been recognised with the Teach First Excellence Award, and he was also the 2009 UK Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year. In 2010, Tom won a 'Future 100' award, as one of the top 10 up-and-coming social entrepreneurs in the UK and in 2014, Enabling Enterprise was awarded "Education Partnership of the Year" in the Education Investor awards.
