Stephen James Purdey Author

Stephen James Purdey is an International Relations (IR) specialist (PhD University of Toronto). His academic research focuses on the theoretical and normative attributes of systems of global governance, and on the practical evolution of new forms of global governance to meet current social-ecological challenges. Now retired, Dr. Purdey has been a contributor to the Great Transition Initiative (greattransition.org), a Boston-based think tank dedicated to the pursuit of planetary sustainability; and the Waterloo Institute for Complexity and Innovation at the University of Waterloo (wici.ca), a leading research hub in the field of Complex Adaptive Systems theory. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Purdey worked for several years in the private sector, in Canadian federal politics, and with NGOs such as the United Nations Association, the World Federalists and the Earth Council.
