Sheila Schofield Large Author

A poet, writer and tutor, Sheila Schofield Large reflects on the extraordinary in the every day and the small details in the bigger picture. She also sees humour in the face of pathos; with hope usually emerging triumphant. She is driven by a love of language and inspired by respect for the power of words. Following an influential career in the UK social sector, Sheila now lives in south-west France where the pace of life and the wide-open spaces allow her to explore the ridiculous, the tragic and the pivotal lessons in life, loss and love. A lifelong pacifist, Sheila is influenced by a wide range of poets and writers from the classical to the modern, particularly those with a social message. Her work has been published in Poetry News, online by Yorkmix and The Poetry Kit and in numerous anthologies, and broadcast on radio in the UK and France. Her first collection, Thin Ice, was published by Mosaïque Press in 2019.
