Sheila Kaye-Smith (1887-1956) was a bestselling author of novels about Sussex throughout the first half of the 20th Century. She was a leader of the Oxford movement before she converted to Catholicism after which she maintained a parish church on her Sussex farm when there were still very few Catholic churches in rural Britain.
