Scott Miles Author

Scott Miles decided to get a TESOL certificate on the advice of a friend who had taught overseas while working on his undergraduate degree in English Literature. He began teaching English in a community high school at this time, and though he made more than his fair share of mistakes, he realized that he enjoyed teaching. After getting his certificate, Scott went to Suwon, Korea for a year and taught in a private institution. It was there that he knew this was the profession he wanted to pursue. After returning to his hometown (Salt Lake City, Utah) he earned a Master's Degree in TESOL while teaching ESL night classes in a community college. The students were adult immigrants from all around the world and they were simply fantastic. Once again, Korea was his destination upon graduation and he was hired as a visiting professor in Sogang University in Seoul Korea, where he had been teaching for the last 6 years. He began working on supplementary materials that were published by his university press and this played a part in bringing Scott to Macmillan. Currently, Scott is writing books for Macmillan and this has been a convenient excuse for him to delay completing his PhD dissertation in language acquisition at Lancaster University.
