John Gabriel is Lecturer in Musicology at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. His research focuses on German and Czech speaking Europe in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Sarah Kirby is a research fellow at the Grainger Museum, University of Melbourne. She is a recent doctoral graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium, where her PhD research explored music at international exhibitions in the British Empire through the 1880s. She teaches music history at both the University of Melbourne and the University of New England, and is currently associate editor of Musicology Australia.
