Safary Wa-Mbaleka is a professor of education with specialization in curriculum and instruction, qualitative research, online education, and applied linguistics. He has taught at different universities in the Caribbean, the USA, Asia, and Africa. He has published several books and journal articles on qualitative research and delivered several talks, seminars, workshops, classes, and conference presentations internationally in more than 20 countries. He is the founding president of the Asian Qualitative Research Association, which he led from 2015 to 2019. His passion for and experience with qualitative research led him and his co-editor, Arceli H. Rosario, to publish this handbook in order to help address issues that they both encountered while leading the qualitative research scholarship in Asia. At the publication of this handbook, he was the dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies of the Adventist University of Africa, in Nairobi, Kenya. Arceli H. Rosario, PhD, is a professor and chair of the Education Department of the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) in the Philippines. She has taught and served as an education leader at the secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels. At AIIAS, she teaches courses in TESOL and educational administration and advises theses and dissertations in both areas. She is also the president of the Asian Qualitative Research Association. She has conducted research studies on women leaders, leadership, Adventist church membership, and issues of marginalized groups and used different qualitative research designs. As part of her advocacy, she devotes time mentoring early career researchers.
