Rupa Chanda is a Professor in the Economics and Social Sciences Area at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, where she lectures on macroeconomics and international trade. She has a PhD in Economics with a specialization in international trade from Columbia University, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Harvard University. She was the recipient of the ICFAI Best Teacher Award for 2006 and held the institute Research Chair from 2005 to 2007. She is currently the faculty representative on the IIM Board of Governors. Prior to joining IIMB, she worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC. She has held short-term research appointments at the World Bank and the United Nations and has undertaken many research assignments for multilateral and Indian organizations, including the ILO, WHO, UNDP, UNCTAD, OECD, South Centre, ICRIER, CUTS and IIFT. Dr Chanda's research interests concern multilateral trade liberalization, specifically WTO and services, migration, health care and IT. She is a Member of the Ministry of Commerce's Expert Group on Services. She was nominated to the Planning Commission's High Level Group on Services and to the Commerce Ministry's Board of Approval for SEZs in 2007. Dr Chanda has many publications to her credit. She is the author of Globalization of Services: India's Opportunities and Constraints (2002) and the editor of India's Trade in Services: Prospects and Strategies (2006). Dr Pralok Gupta is Assistant Professor (Services and Investment) at the Centre for WTO Studies, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. Dr Gupta has a PhD in Economics and Social Sciences from IIM Bangalore. He has been a visiting and full-time faculty member at various Indian institutions, including the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. He has also served in the State Audit Services of the Government of Uttar Pradesh as well as the Industrial Finance Corporation of India. He has been actively involved in India's Services FTAs with Latin American countries, such as Chile, Peru, Colombia and Panama, and recently, with Israel and New Zealand. He has been appointed as Member (Sectoral Expert) in the Inter Ministerial Sub-Group on Data in International Trade in Services by the Government of India.
