Dylan Hewitt was born and raised in London, England. Half polish and half-English descent. He studied for his BA degree in graphic design at lofty Central St Martins. From here he dived into a life of art direction in the advertising world developing campaigns in every media. He gained more and more illustration and writing experience along the way – every day writing scripts, headlines and copy while illustrating, art directing and storyboarding. Behind closed doors he was busy creating children’s books. A love of the picture book classics means his work has more than a twang of the M Saseks and Bruno Munaris of this world. The influence is clear in his illustration styles – simple shapes using inks and cutouts, vibrant colours and brushed lines. His biggest takeaway from advertising has been that the idea is king, and he likes his ideas to have humour, charm, warmth and a spot of the surreal just like him.
Ronald Wohlman was born in 1967 in a small town outside Johannesburg, South Africa. Growing up, Ronald loved most of all to listen to stories, read books, and write stories of his own. In his spare time he worked for the local theatre company as a puppeteer and an ac- tor. He loved to see people entertained by stories. Especially children. After high school, and before his studies, Ronald decided that he must see as much of the world as he could. So he travelled around Europe, Greece and the Middle East, looking for new adventures and new stories. Ronald has had the good fortune of living and working in London, Paris and New York as a creative director on global brand advertising. With this book he returns to his great love of telling stories that are universal, meaningful and filled with humanity.
