Rob Russell is a devoted angler, fly tier and conservationist who has centered his life around the waters and fish that he loves. He has written countless magazine articles for publications such as Fish & Fly, Northwest Flyfishing, The Flyfisher, and Salmon Trout Steelheader, served as editor of the FFF’s steelhead conservation newsletter, The Osprey, and spent several years as a contributing editor to Salmon Trout Steelheader. He has also contributed stories to the Oregon Flyfishing Blog and the Native Fish Society’s newsletter, Strong Runs. Rob’s most intensive steelheading experience came from his ten years working as a fishing guide in Oregon, Russia and Alaska. In the years since, Rob has found his true calling, building community-based partnerships around habitat restoration projects in the Tillamook Bay watershed. He lives in Bay City, Oregon. Jay Nicholas’s personal and professional life has been framed around his inescapable attraction to fish and fishing. A four-decade career as a fisheries biologist included work with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Wild Salmon Center, serving each entity as Senior Salmon Scientist before his retirement in 2014. Jay has been tying flies and fly fishing some 55 years; contributed to Salmon Trout Steelheader and the Steelheader’s Journal; writes for the Oregon Flyfishing Blog and fishingwithjay; is an active presenter at fly clubs across Oregon; and has self-published twelve books including Intruder Strategies and Sea Run Cutthroat Flies and Fishing. Jay lives in Corvallis, Oregon, with his family. Photographer Jon Jensen lives with his wife and daughter in Portland, Oregon. Jon works for some of the nation's top designers and publishers. When not on assignment, he can be found tending his home and garden, cycling the streets of Portland, and casting into Northwest rivers and streams for wild trout and steelhead.
