Hans Binnendijk is Roosevelt Chair at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., and director of its Center for Technology and National Security Policy (CTNSP). He is the author or editor of dozens of books and reports, most recently Information Assurance: Trends in Vulnerabilities, Threats, and Technologies. Dr. Binnendijk lives in Bethesda, Maryland. Richard L. Kugler is Distinguished Research Professor at CTNSP. His many publications include Policy Analysis for National Security Affairs: New Methods for a New Era. Dr. Kugler lives in the Washington, D.C., area. Hans Binnendijk is Director of the Center for Technology and National Security Policy and Roosevelt Chair at the National Defense University. He has served on the National Security Council as Senior Director for Defense Policy and Arms Control (1999 - 2001), as Director of the Institute for National Strategic Studies at the National Defense University (1994 - 1999), as Principal Deputy Director of the State Department Policy Planning Staff (1993 - 1994), and as Legislative Director for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (1981 - 1985). In academia, he was Director of Georgetown University's Institute for the Study for Diplomacy (1991 - 1993) and Deputy Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies. Dr. Binnendijk received a doctorate in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University (1972). He is author or co-author of about 100 publications and reports. Richard L. Kugler is a Distinguished Research Professor at the Center for Technology and National Security Policy at the National Defense University. A former senior executive in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Director of the Department of Defense's Strategic Concepts and Development Center in the 1980s, he is a defense planner and strategic analyst with over 30 years of experience in DOD and RAND. His specialties are U.S. defense strategy, global security affairs, and NATO. An operations research analyst and political scientist, he holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author of many studies and journal articles and 16 books on defense and security issues.
