Howard Williams is an ITSM process consultant in Microsoft’s IT Service Management consulting practice, with over 10 years of experience designing and implementing ITSM solutions for diverse customer populations. He is an ITIL® Service Manager (V2), ITIL® Expert (V3), and has an MBA in Operations Management from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. With Rebecca Duray, he is the co-author of Making IT Lean: Applying Lean Practices to the Work of IT. Prior to his IT career, Howard was the manager of libraries at Digital Equipment Corporation and has an MLS degree (Library Science) from the University of Michigan. Rebecca Duray is a Professor of Operations Management at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Professor Duray received her Ph.D. from the Ohio State University and her B.S. and M.B.A from Case Western Reserve University. Her research interests are in the strategic use of operations, mass customization, and Lean information systems. Over the past 20 years, Professor Duray educated MBA students in the principles of quality and Lean and started them on their Lean journey. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., Professor Duray was a management consultant for various firms including Price Waterhouse and A.T. Kearney focusing on operations and systems issues. Her client base included middle market and growth companies and Fortune 500 companies in industries ranging from industrial manufacturers to service organizations.
