Prangan Duarah Author

Dr. Mihir Kumar Purkait received his Ph.D and M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IITKGP) after completing his B.Tech and B.Sc (Hons) in Chemistry from University of Calcutta. He has also done his post PhD research in MIT (USA). Prof. Purkait is a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) UK, Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET) UK, Fellow of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (FIIChE) India, Fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science & Technology (FAScT) India, and Fellow of Institute of Engineers (FIE) India. He is the director of 2 incubated company (viz. RD Grow Green India Pvt. Ltd. and Vixudha Bio Products Ltd.). He is also a technical advisor of Gammon India Ltd and Indian Oil Corporation, Bethkuchi for their water treatment plant. He is currently the Chair Professor for National Jal Jeevan Mission (NJJM) Govt. of India, an initiative to provide safe drinking water to every rural household. He has also received several awards like; BOYSCAST Fellow award (2009-10) from the DST, Young Engineers Award in the field of Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Engineers (India, 2009), Young Scientist Medal award from the Indian National Science Academy (INSA, 2009), and Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation national fellowship from Indian National Academy of Engineering. His current research activities are focused in four distinct areas namely i) advanced separation technologies, ii) waste to energy, iii) smart materials for various applications and iv) process intensification. In each area, his goal is to synthesize stimuli responsive materials and to develop a more fundamental understanding of the factors governing the performance of the chemical and biochemical processes. He has more than 20 years of experience in academics and research and has published more than 300 papers in different reputed journals (Citation: >13,000, h-index = 66, i-10 index = 160). To his credit are 12 patents and 10 books. He has completed 34 sponsored and consultancy projects from various funding agencies and has guided 18 Ph.D students. Dr. Dibyajyoti Haldar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (Deemed to be University), Coimbatore, India. He is a former Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for the Environment, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), India. He obtained his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Agartala (NITA), India, and his M.Tech in Environmental Science and Technology from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NITDGP), India. His research work includes conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into fermentable sugars, enzymatic hydrolysis, biofuels, formation of value-added products derived from agricultural wastes and processes kinetics and modelling. He has published more than 20 scientific research and review papers in various reputed International journals. He is the author of several book chapters and two books (ISBN: 9780128188019 and ISBN: 9780128235348) published in Elsevier. Dr. Haldar is the Review Editor for Frontiers in Chemistry journal (SCI indexed) in the Green and Sustainable Chemistry Section. He is the recipient of Most Cited Review Paper Award for his review article “A review on the production of fermentable sugars from lignocellulosic biomass through conventional and enzymatic route–A comparison” published & downloaded for the period 2016-2020 in International Journal of Green Energy organized by 13th International Green Energy Conference on 18th July, 2021 in Beijing, China. He also received International Teaching Excellence Award in Biochemical Engineering in Global Annual Education & Research Excellence Awards 2021 by Centre for Professional Advancement (CPACE, AP) on 18th December 2021. During his Ph.D., he received the Best Oral Presentation Award in a one-day workshop on ''Current Trends in Scientific Research" at Research Scholars' Day 2018 organized by the National Institute of Technology Agartala, India. He is a potential reviewer of various SCI-indexed International journals. He attended several conferences of National and International repute. Prangan Duarah is a doctoral research fellow at the Centre for the Environment in the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. He worked on a research project at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, before joining IIT Guwahati as a research fellow. He graduated from North-Eastern Hill University in Shillong, India, with a B.Tech in Energy Engineering. His current field of studies focuses on naturally-derived pharmaceutical compounds and green nanomaterial synthesis for various applications. He is a recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF), which is given to the country's most outstanding research scholars as a token of encouragement to pursue their research. He has published more than five journal papers and several book chapters in peer-reviewed international publications.
