Pete Johnson was first encouraged to become a writer by Dodie Smith - author of The Hundred and One Dalmatians - who he wrote to at the age of eight. After studying English, Pete worked as a film critic and at Radio One, before becoming a secondary school teacher. It was here that he published his first children's book. He has written numerous best-selling books for children, including The Ghost Dog, Rescuing Dad and How to Get Famous.
