Pedro Paulo Gomes Pereira is Associate Professor of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). Professor of the Graduate Program in Collective Health at UNIFESP. Master’s degree in Anthropology at the University of Brasília (1996), PhD in Anthropology at the University of Brasília (2001), and post-doctoral fellow at the University of Barcelona (2001-2002). Visiting post-doctoral researcher at the University of Barcelona. Research Fellow in Spain at Universidad Rovira y Virgili through Fundación Carolina. Member of editorial boards of numerous periodical publications. Editor-in-Chief of "Revista Interface". Recipient of the Anthropology and Human Rights Prize of the Brazilian Anthropology Association (2002). Responsible for support of active research projects at the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Author of books "O terror e a dádiva" (The Terror and the Gift – 2004) and "De corpos e travessias" (Of Bodies and Crossings – 2014), as well as articles published in journals in Brazil and internationally. Active focus on studies of the body, health, and sickness.
