Dr. Hirak Ranjan Dash is an assistant professor of forensic biotechnology at National Forensic Sciences University, Delhi Campus, India. He obtained his PhD in Life Science from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. Before joining academia, he served as a DNA expert at Forensic Science Laboratory, Madhya Pradesh, India. He has had more than 12 years of research experience. His research interests include forensic DNA analysis, genetic markers, forensic microbiology, and NGS. He has published 50 research papers and 10 books to date. He is the recipient of a research fellowship from the Indian Academy of Science. He is a pioneer in India in working on NGS-based forensic DNA analysis. He is a life member of the International Society of Forensic Geneticists and the Association of Microbiologists of India. He was featured in the list of the world’s top 2% researchers in 2021. Dr. Kelly M. Elkins is a professor of chemistry at Towson University, where she teaches in the Master of Science in Forensic Science Program and is the co-director of the TU Human Remains Identification Laboratory. Previously, she was the director of forensic science and assistant professor of chemistry at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She has a bachelor of science in biology, bachelor of arts in chemistry, and a PhD in chemistry with an emphasis on biochemistry. Focused on the forensic DNA field, she developed a network of contacts in crime laboratories throughout the United States and internationally. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a member of the American Chemical Society. She has published several books, book chapters, and journal articles. She consults on forensic cases. Dr. Noora Rashid Al-Snan is the head of the Biology and DNA Forensic Laboratory for the Directorate of Forensic Science, Ministry of Interior, Kingdom of Bahrain. She has a BSc in molecular biology–biochemistry from Kuwait University and an MSc in medical biotechnology from Arabian Gulf University, and a PhD in molecular medicine from Arabian Gulf University, specializing in medical genetics. She has authored publications on forensic genetics and genetic genealogy studies. She has published several case work studies on terrorism.
