Jonathan Beever cofounded the Purdue Lectures in Ethics, Policy, and Science. As a doctoral student in philosophy at Purdue, Beever focuses his primary research on applied ethics, science, and bioethics, but also he does work in continental philosophy, political and moral philosophy, and semiotics. He has published on several interrelated topics concerning semiotics, environmental value, biotechnological risk, and bioethics. Nicolae C. Morar is a Faculty Fellow in the Department of Philosophy and in the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Oregon, and a cofounder of the Purdue Lectures in Ethics, Policy, and Science. Morar received his doctoral degree from Purdue University with a thesis analyzing the ways in which current biotechnologies are altering traditional conceptions of human nature. His current research work focuses on the role of natural sciences in bioethics and in policy concerning life processes. Morar has published on several topics in bioethics and recent continental philosophy.
