Hans Christian Andersen Born in 1806, Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen achieved worldwide fame for his highly original and innovative children’s stories. He is best known for his fairy tales, including The Ugly Duckling, The Little Mermaid and The Princess and the Pea, which have become classics and remain popular with adults and children worldwide.
