Milan Bufon is Full Professor of Human and Political Geography at the University of Primorska, Slovenia, where he served as Director of the Institute for Mediterranean Humanities and Social Studies (1996–2007) and as Vice-Rector for Research (2003–2007). He is currently President of the Slovene Research Institute in Trieste, Italy. His book No More Shall Foes, But Neighbours Be was awarded as the best Slovene monograph in humanities in 2012.Julian Minghi is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina, USA, where he served as Chair of Department from 1973 to 1990. He is seen by many as one of the “fathers” of modern political geography, and particularly of the geography of border landscapes. He is the co-editor of a number of seminal books, such as The Geography of Border Landscapes (1991) and The Structure of Political Geography: Theory and Applications (Chicago 1969).Anssi Paasi is Full Professor of Geography at the University of Oulu, Finland. He was awarded the title of Finnish Academy Professor for the period 2008–2012. His books include Territories, Boundaries and Consciousness (1996). He is a member of several editorial boards of geographical journals, and was co-editor of Progress in Human Geography from 2008 to 2012. His research fields include the social construction of regions, territorial identities, and regionalism and borders.
