Dr. Peerawatt Nunthavarawong is Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering (Tribology), Department of Teacher Training in Mechanical Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand and is a research lecturer in the Ph.D. program at The Sirindhorn International Thai – German Graduate School of Engineering, KMUTNB. He is the head of the Tribo-Systems for Industrial Tools and Machinery Research Center, KMUTNB. He earned his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, with the field of Applied Mechanics and specialty in Friction & Wear of Materials from Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 2012. In 2015, he began work as post-doctorate at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Johannesburg, South Africa, where he studied a short course and received his certificate of competence in Tribology: Friction, Wear, and Lubrication, achieving as the NQF level 9 (equivalent to a Master’s degree) from Wits in November 2016. He has been appointed to the working committee of the Thai Tribology Association and the Secretary-General of the Association of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers of Thailand since 2014 and 2018, respectively. He is a member of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers in the U.S. and the Cold Spray Club – MINES ParisTech in France. He served as a reviewer for the Jurnal Tribologi by the Malaysian Tribology Society and the Journal of Bio- and Tribo-corrosion by Springer. Dr. Peerawatt’s research and contributions with more than 30+ publications are mainly in areas of friction & wear of materials, contact and damage mechanics, cold gas dynamic spraying, thermal spraying, applied nuclear physics for material processing, and including computational methods for engineered materials. He is also the co-inventor of the ion-implanted hardmetal cemented carbide cold sprayed coatings. This invention was primarily granted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (2018), and was extensively patented in Canada (2018), Australia (2019), U.S. (2020), and Japan (2020).
