Mary Mashuta Author

Mary Mashuta began quilting in the early 1970s and has been teaching quiltmaking internationally since 1985. Her quilts and garments have been in numerous national shows.

Mary began as a hand quilter, but she switched to machine quilting with the walking foot in the 1990s. She prides herself on creating interesting quilting designs with the walking foot and has discovered how to use heavier threads on the top of the machine. Because she never moved on to free-motion quilting, she has been able to help numerous other quilters who are "drop the feed dog" challenged to discover that they can quilt their own quilts with interesting designs without ever doing free-motion quilting.

Mary has two degrees in home economics. She has published six books with C&T. She has also written numerous magazine articles. She lives in Berkeley, California, with her sister and fellow quilter, Roberta Horton. Visit Mary at www.marymashuta.com.
