Martin McNamara is an award-winning writer who has scripted radio dramas, stage plays, short films and optioned feature scripts. He has also made radio documentaries, worked as a TV news producer and authored non-fiction. His background is in journalism, writing for national newspapers, magazines and news agencies, and he was a news producer for Associated Press Television News (APTN). His first full length play, The Magic Hour, was produced at the Brockley Jack in 2013. Other stage work has been performed at Theatre N16, Soho Theatre, 503 Theatre, Bread & Roses, Lion & Unicorn, The Bunker, Irish Cultural Centre, London Irish Centre, the Alphabetti Theatre in Newcastle and other theatres. He was invited to take his play Traitors, Cads and Cowards into HM Wandsworth Prison to perform before inmates. Your Ever Loving was produced at the Cowgate, Underbelly in Edinburgh and named best drama of the fringe. Feature script Sworn Virgin won the BBC Norther Ireland/Tony Doyle bursary and was optioned by Lakeside Films. The Shy Russian was optioned by Future Films USA. His short films have been selected for many film festivals around the globe. The Parting Glass was nominated best international film at Underground Film Festival, Dublin. Fifteen made its television debut on ShortsTV in August 2022 in America with a Europe wide TV showing to follow.
