Makhosazana Xaba Author & Editor

Makhosazana Xaba is the author of these hands (Timbila, 2005) a volume of poetry that is currently undergoing translation into French. She holds an MA in Creative Writing (cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand and is the winner of the 2005 Deon Hofmeyr Award for Creative Writing. Currently, she is a Writing Fellow at the Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research (WISER) working on a biography project. Before turning to writing she worked in local and international NGOs as a women's health specialist in various positions. Xaba published extensively in academic and development journals on health systems management, gender and health and women's health policies. She lives in Jozi with her daughter Nala.
