Larry Brendtro Author & Editor

Dr Larry Brendtro is president of Reclaiming Youth and past president of Starr Commonwealth, serving troubled youth in Michigan and Ohio, USA. He currently serves as dean of Starr's International Research Council. He has been a youth worker, teacher, principal, and psychologist. He started the graduate program in children's behavior disorders at the University of Illinois and taught at The Ohio State University and Augustana College. He has authored 10 books related to troubled children and has trained professionals worldwide. He and Nicholas Long founded the journal Reclaiming Children and Youth. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in the combined program in education and psychology.

Mary Shahbazian is president of the Allendale Association, which operates educational and treatment programs at various sites in Illinois and Wisconsin, USA. She has 25 years of experience in developing programs for troubled children and their families, serving in roles as child and youth care worker, group counselor, special educator, principal, and agency executive. She is a national senior trainer in Life Space Crisis Intervention and an advisor to numerous private and public bodies concerned with children at risk. She holds graduate degrees in special education and social service administration, and recently completed a master's degree in jurisprudence in child and family law at Loyola University.
