Ulisse Aldrovandi, (born Sept. 11, 1522, Bologna, Bologna—died May 4, 1605, Bologna), Renaissance naturalist and physician noted for his systematic and accurate observations of animals, plants, and minerals.

L. R. Lind (1906-2008), past chairman of the Department of Classics at the University of Kansas, published translations of many works, including Virgil's Aeneid, along with several monographs.
