Prof. Jie Yang is currently a full professor with the Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Discipline, School of Engineering, RMIT University, Australia. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Department of Civil Engineering, the University of Queensland from 2002-2004, a Lecturer at the Department of Building and Construction, City University of Hong Kong from 2004-2007 before joining RMIT in 2008 where he was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2010, Associate Professor in 2014 and Professor in 2017. His main research interests include advanced composite structures, nanocomposites, structural stability and dynamics, smart structures and control, and nano/micro-mechanics. He is an author of over 400 papers including 285 journal papers which have so far attracted more than 20500 Google Scholar citations with a h-index of 79. He is the Highly Cited Researcher (Cross Field) in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 by Clarivate Analytics and is named by Australian Research Magazine as Global Field Leader in Mechanical Engineering in 2020, Australia’s Research Field Leader in Mechanical Engineering in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 as well as in Structural Engineering in 2021. Prof. Yang is the Lead Editor-in-Chief of Engineering Structures (JCR Q1), Associate Editor of Mechanics Based Design of Structures and Machines (JCR Q1), and the editorial board member of Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, Thin-Walled Structures, International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, Scientific Reports, Materials, and Shock and Vibration, etc. Dr. Da Chen is currently an ARC (Australian Research Council) DECRA (Discovery Early Career Researcher Award) fellow at Department of Infrastructure Engineering, the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at School of Civil Engineering, the University of Queensland, where he obtained his PhD degree in June 2018. He worked as a research fellow at MFM and ISMD, Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. He will shortly join School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UNSW (University of New South Wales) Sydney, as a lecturer. Dr. Chen has an interdisciplinary research background across structural, material, and mechanical engineering with a focus on the advanced composite structural forms for various end-user applications, such as novel lightweight non-uniform foam components, graphene reinforced nanocomposites, vibration absorbers, concrete columns, and offshore fish cages. His study promotes the development of functionally graded porous structures and has been widely acknowledged. His research achievements include 6 Highly Cited Papers (top performing 1%), 2330 Web of Science citations, and 7.72 for Field-Weighted Citation Impact (2017-2021, SciVal), as of January 2023. A/Prof. Kang Gao is currently working as an Associate Professor in School of Civil Engineering, Southeast University, China. Before this, he got the Ph.D. degree in UNSW, Sydney and worked as a research associate in RMIT University and Cardiff University. He has developed an excellent emerging publication track record publishing over 30 papers in internationally leading journals, 5 patents and conference proceedings. A/Prof. Gao’s research expertise is focused on the static, dynamic characteristics of advanced materials (functionally graded, graphene platelets reinforced materials), the design, optimization, and application of advanced structures (porous, graded porous and lattice structures) in engineering practices. He received youth project from the Natural Science Foundation, Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars, and participated in 4 ARC Discovery projects and one ESPRC project. He is the assistant editor and early career board member of prestigious international journal “Engineering Structures”, the guest editor of Thin-walled Structures. He worked as the invited reviewers for many international journals.
