Baker is Professor of Sociology, Education, and Demography at Pennsylvania State University, and is the 2023 George Sarton Medalist and Chair for the History of Science at the University of Ghent, Belgium. He is the author of The Schooled Society (Stanford, 2014) and co-author of National Differences, Global Similarities (Stanford, 2005) and The Century of Science (2017).Justin J.W. Powell is Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Luxembourg. His (co-)authored books include Comparing Special Education (Stanford, 2011), Barriers to Inclusion (2016), and The Century of Science (2017).
