Juan Pablo Salgado-Guerrero is Vice-Rector of Research at Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS). He obtained his PhD degree in Economics and Innovation for Sustainable Development at Università degli Studi di Ferrara, Italy, been recognized for the best doctoral tesis on June 4th, 2018, during the “IUSS Day” ceremony. He has also a Master’s Degree in Innovation for Business Development, from Tecnológico de Monterrey, México, and graduated Mechanical Engineer with mention in Machine Design at UPS. He was Secretary of Liaison with the Internationalization Collective at UPS; Secretary of Human and Economic Development of the Municipality of Cuenca, Ecuador; Manager of the City of Sciences. Coordinator of Public Policy at the City Council in the areas of Social and Economic Development, Culture, Education, Health, and Tourism; Executive Representative of the Mayor and President of the Directories of Public Companies; Advisor to the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Member of the Trust “Por Cuenca” with private companies and the Chamber of Industries of the city of Cuenca since March 2020. He has also been Delegate of the Rector of UPS in the Consortium of Universities of the City of Cuenca for the Cuenca del Futuro Project; Representative of the Rector and Coordinator of the University Council of Library of UPS. Member of the Executive Council and General Coordinator of the I International Congress “University, Development and Cooperation”. Member of the executive council of the III International Congress “University, Development and Cooperation”. Co-organizer of the Engineering Congress “Engineering Education in Ecuador”. Member of the Council of Publications at UPS. Member of the Board of Directors of the REDU (Network of Ecuadorian Universities for Research). President of the Scientific Committee of the International Congress on Scientific Research and Production and Publishing. Delegate of the Mayor of Cuenca to the Chair of Citizenship. Chairof the Accredited Universities of Cuenca. Main Member of the Network of International Relations and Cooperation of the Ecuadorian Universities. Manager of the Research Agreements with the Universities of Ferrara, Pavia and Florence (Italy). Financial Management with International Banks and Financial Research Organizations and agreements with the University of Economics of Vienna-Austria. Member of the Advisory Mission for the formation of the Salesian Universities in India-Province of Tamil Nadu-Chennai. Member of the Dialogue Table of the Project of Academic Cooperation with Ecuadorian Universities and the European Union VERTEBRALCUE. 

Professor Hector Rene Vega-Carrillo has a large experience in research and teaching in nuclear sciences. Vega-Carrillo´s research interests include experimental and computational spectrometry and dosimetry of neutrons and gamma-rays, design of subcritical nuclear reactors using uranium and thorium. He has published more than 200 papers in scientific journals, more than 40 books and more than 400 papers in scientific meetings. Since 2005 Vega-Carrillo has been the International Scientific Committee Chairperson of the International Symposium on Solid State Dosimetry (ISSSD). Has been invited professor in universities in Mexico, Spain, Colombia, and Peru. Since 1981 was faculty member at the Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas, he is liaison officer by Mexico at the Nuclear Energy Agency and was co-founder of the Irradiation and Dosimetry Mexican Society (SMID, AC). Professor Vega-Carrillo is member of the editorial board as managing editor of Applied Radiation and Isotopes and member of the editorial board of Radiation Physics and Engineering.

Gonzalo F. García-Fernández, Ph.D., is an Assistant professor and researcher at Technical University of Madrid (UPM) in nuclear technology, radiation protection, transport ofradiation with Monte Carlo codes, proton therapy centers, and application of ionizing radiation in healthcare facilities, to students of graduated and Master courses. He is Industrial and Mechanical Engineer, MSc in Science and Nuclear Technology, and Doctor Industrial Engineer in Nuclear Technology from Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Previously, since 1995 he developed his professional career as project manager working in international projects of infrastructures, hospitals and healthcare services, roads, energy efficiency, radiation protection, research, and education. He has professional accreditations in efficiency and sustainability (CEM), management (IESE-PADE), project management (PMP), and chartered industrial and mechanical engineer. He has published approximately 30 scientific papers, 3 books, and has participated in more than 60 scientific and technical international meetings.

Vladimir Espartaco Robles-Bykbaev (Senior Member, IEEE) received the degree incomputer science from Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, Ecuador, in 2006, the M.S. degree in Artificial Intelligence, Pattern Recognition, and Digital Imaging from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Vigo, Spain, in 2016. Since 2012, he has been an Principal Professor with the Computer Science Department, UPS. Since 2016 he collaborates as head of the smart technologies area at the UNESCO Chair on Support Technologies for Educational Inclusion at the UPS. His research interests include the application of artificial intelligence techniques for improving the educational inclusion of children, youth and older adults as well as the rescue, and preservation of cultural heritage of Andean people.
