Joseph Roach is Sterling Professor of Theater and English at Yale University. His most recent book It is a study of charismatic celebrity. His other books include Cities of the Dead: Circum-Atlantic Performance, winner of the James Russell Lowell Prize and the Callaway Prize; and The Player's Passion: Studies in the Science of Acting, winner of the Barnard Hewitt Award. Paula Vogel is the award-winning playwright of Baltimore Waltz (Obie for Best Play, 1992) and How I Learned to Drive (Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 1997). She currently chairs the Playwriting Department at the Yale School of Drama.
