Laura (Riding) Jackson's first published poem appeared in The Fugitive in 1923. In 1925, she moved to England and during thirteen years abroad wrote some twenty books of poetry, criticism, and fiction. She married Schuyler B. Jackson in 1941, and collaborated with him on Rational Meaning: A New Foundation for the Definition of Words. In 1991, she was awarded the Bollingen Prize for her lifetime contribution to poetry. She died on September 2, 1991. John Nolan is Director of the Laura (Riding) Jackson Board of Literary Management. He lives in London, England.
