John Ash is a distinguished ornithologist who spent much of his career on bird-related research in Africa, particularly in Somalia. John Miskell is an ornithologist who spent several years working and travelling around Africa. Miskell and John Ash added over 60 species to the list of Somalia birds and discovered a new species of lark (Mirafra ashi).
