John Marshall is a career diplomat who joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1988. His overseas postings have included Japan, Malaysia and Ethiopia. From 2011-2015 he was British Ambassador to Senegal, and this book draws on the research and travels he undertook while there. From 2016 until April 2021 he served as British Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
