Steven L. Spiegel, Professor of Political Science at UCLA and Director of the Center for Middle East Development there, specializes in the analysis of world politics, American foreign policy, and American foreign policy in the Middle East. In addition to World Politics in a New Era, he is co-author (with Daniel C. Kurtzer, Scott B. Lasensky, William B. Quandt, and Shibley Z. Telhami) of The Peace Puzzle: America's Quest for Arab-Israeli Peace from 1989-2011, published in 2013 by Cornell University Press. Elizabeth G. Matthews is Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at California State University San Marcos. Dr. Matthews lectures and writes on American foreign policy, international negotiations, the Middle East peace process, U.S.-Russian relations, and human rights including genocide and crimes against humanity. Jennifer M. Taw is Associate Professor of Government in the International Relations Program at Claremont McKenna College. She teaches courses on international relations, U.S. foreign policy, and security. She spent ten years as a RAND policy analyst and has also served as assistant editor and contributing editor for Studies in Conflict and Terrorism and on the editorial board of Small Wars and Insurgencies. Kristen P. Williams is Professor of Political Science at Clark University. She teaches courses on international relations, including women and war, U.S. national security, U.S. foreign policy, religion and IR, and peace and war.
