Jeferson Tenório , born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil in 1977 and lives in Porto Alegre. He is currently doing a PhD in literary theory at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. His debut novel O beijo na parede (The Kiss on the Wall , 2013) was named Book of the Year in 2013 by the Associação Gaúcha de Escritores. Jeferson’s texts have been adapted for the theatre, and some of his stories have been translated into English and Spanish. His second novel Estela sem Deus (Godless Star ) was published in 2018, followed in 2020 by O avesso da pele (The Dark Side of Skin) , which was celebrated by audiences and critics alike in Brazil, Latin America and France.
Bruna Dantas Lobato is a bilingual writer and literary translator. Her debut novel, HOME AND AWAY, is forthcoming in September 2024 from Grove Atlantic in the US and Companhia das Letras/PRH in Brazil. Her translations include Moldy Strawberries by Caio Fernando Abreu (longlisted for the PEN Translation Prize, longlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize, and winner of a PEN/Heim Translation Grant), The Words that Remain by Stênio Gardel, and The Dark Side of Skin by Jeferson Tenório (winner of an English PEN Translates Award), among others.
Bruna holds an MFA in Fiction from New York University, an MFA in Literary Translation from the University of Iowa, and BA in Literature and Social Sciences from Bennington College. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker , Guernica , A Public Space , BOMB , The Kenyon Review , Bookforum , and other publications, and has received support from Yaddo, Jentel, A Public Space, NYU, the Outpost Foundation, Disquiet International, and more. She was born and raised in Natal, Brazil, and lives in St. Louis, US with her partner and pet bunny.
