Vitali Silitski is a visiting scholar at the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law at Stanford University. He writes extensively on the politics, economy, and society of Belarus; democratic transitions and authoritarianism in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union; and Belarus-Russia and the Belarus-EU relations. Jan Zaprudnik has taught the history of Russia and the Soviet Union at Queens College of the City University of New York and history and politics of Belarus at the Harriman Institute of Columbia University. He is the author of the previous edition of the Historical Dictionary of Belarus.
