Ivica Prtenjaca was born in 1969 in Rijeka. He had many odd jobs, played handball, and even studied. His books of poetry and fiction include, among others, Pisanje oslobađa (Writing Liberates), Uzimaj sve što te smiruje (Take Anything That Makes You Calm), Brdo (The Hill), Tiho rušenje (Quiet Demolition), and Plivač (The Swimmer). His award-winning novel The Hill is being made into a feature film. His books have been translated into several languages, he won a number of literary awards, and his work was included in anthologies. Ivica lives in Zagreb where he works as a radio host and freelance writer.
