Francesco ColangeloisProfessor of Environmental and Industrial Risk Assessment at the University of Naples “Parthenope and the Scientific Director of the CRI-TEST Innovation Lab, Naples, Italy. His main research work covers the recycling of waste materials in concrete andforgeo-environmental and civil applicationsandthe application of life cycle assessment methodology to different processes for the preparation of innovative building materials. He is also interested inthe evaluation ofthedurability of mortars and concretes, the stabilization/solidification of hazardous wastes and the synthesis ofgeopolymericeco-sustainable materials based on industrial waste. He has a long experience in consultancy in the following fields: treatment and recycling of solid waste, remediation of old landfills, resource recovery plants. He has been and still is the scientific manager ofa number ofresearch projects with public and private companies. Since 2012, he is a senior member of RILEM. He is the director of the Master Course in Safety Engineering at the Department of Engineering of the University of Naples "Parthenope". Raffaele Cioffihas a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II. He is Professor of Materials Science and Technology and Materials Engineering at the University of Naples “Parthenope, Naples, Italy. He has been the Head of the Department of Technology and thedirector of the Research Quality Centre of the University of Naples "Parthenope". He has been the director of the Sustainable Development Engineering Laboratory of the Department of Technology, the president of the Teaching Board fortheIndustrial Engineering Course, and he is the coordinator of the Technical and Scientific Committee for the Master Course in Safety Engineering of the University of Naples " Parthenope". He is the vice-president of the Italian Association on Materials Engineering (AIMAT). Ilenia Farinareceived amaster's degree in Civil Engineeringfrom the University of Naples “Parthenope and a postgraduate certificate in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Sheffield (UK); the title of her dissertation was “Plasma treatments of polymers for increased adhesion in composite materials. In 2012, she graduated in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Salerno, submitting a final project titled “Mechanical properties and manufacturing process of innovative sustainable cementitious materials. Her research interests cover the development of innovative materials for sustainable construction. She has conductedexperimentsto demonstrate theuseof plasticfibersobtained from waste plastic as dispersed reinforcement in cementitious materials. Furthermore, she has also developed newfibergeometries, with the aim of enhancing the thermo-mechanical performance offiber-reinforced concrete and mortars. Her current research activity focuses on the development of newfiber-reinforced materials using conventional raw materials as well as inorganic waste materials.
