Sir Ifor Williams was a Welsh scholar and his main area of study was Old Welsh, particularly early Welsh poetry. Rachel Bromwich was Emeritus Reader in Celtic Languages and Literature at the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Cambridge University.
