Ian Searle Author

Ian Searle has been writing all his adult life, but it is only in retirement that he began publishing his work. He is now in his 80s and still writing. Most of his working life he was a teacher in both primary and secondary schools, but he has also worked in retail. In the 1960s he worked in the Solomon Islands where some of his work was used in primary schools and in the Training College. In the UK later some short stories were published, including Blackwoods Magazine. In the 1980s, with a musician friend, he wrote several large-scale school musicals. As Chairman of the Third Age Trust he oversaw an organisation with 350,000 members. Now a widower he lives alone, but, until recently he has been active as a Volunteer in several organisations, including the RVS and the U3A, of which he was National Chairman until 2012.
