Hugo Rittson Thomas is one of the UK's leading portrait photographers. He started his career in the art world, studying at Central St Martin s and Goldsmiths University of London. He lives and works in the Cotswolds. Hugo's book, Secret Gardens of the Cotswolds, was a study on the exceptional gardens in this region, featuring the beautiful gardens of Burford Priory (Matthew Freud), Daylesford House (Lady Bamford) and Stowell Park (Lord and Lady Vestey), amongst others, and was launched at the London Garden Museum in February 2015. Great Gardens of London was published in Autumn 2015. For this book Rittson Thomas gained special access to a significant number of hitherto private gardens, such as 10 Downing Street, Clarence House (courtesy of HRH Prince Charles), and the American Ambassador's residence Winfield House, the garden of which is second only in size to Buckingham Palace. Secret Gardeners: Private Sanctuaries of Britain's Artists and Creators was released in 2017, featuring the gardens of Sting, artist Anish Kapoor, actor Rupert Everett, Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, amongst others. Secret Houses of the Cotswolds was published in 2018. In a personal tour of twenty of the UK's most beguiling castles, estates, palaces and manor houses, Rittson Thomas collaborated with architectural historian Jeremy Musson to produce a beautiful book, exploring the history, architecture and interiors of some of the most fascinating country houses that have shaped the English identity. Hugo Rittson Thomas has photographed Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke of Cambridge, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prime Minister David Cameron, for his book The Queen s People which was published by Assouline in 2016. Other notable portraits include the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, photographed for the Sunday Times.
