Haozhi Pan works on combining regional economics and spatial data science methods for understanding how cities can achieve economic growth and digital smartness, as well as co-governance goals including carbon neutrality and citizen participation. Zahra Kalantari has successfully led and carried out interdisciplinary research with focus on understanding of earth and human systems to develop science, technology and innovation solutions to planet’s most pressing environmental challenges associated with the combined effects of changes in climate, land-use and water-use in terrestrial environments. Carla Ferreira’s main research interests include soil and water degradation processes, impacts of anthropogenic activities and climate change on land, nature-based solutions and ecosystem services, and sustainable land-use planning. Cong Cong’s research focuses on using data, computing and informatic tools to inform more effective decision-making. She explores the intersection of computer science and urban planning and uses large-scale urban modeling, and spatial big data analysis as exploratory techniques.
