Tae-Jin Yang is a professor in the department of Agriculture, Forestry and Bioresources at Seoul National University since 2006. Before, he worked as researcher in rural development administration, Korea, for 10 years. He studied for Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. at Seoul National University. He did research as postdoctoral researcher at Clemson University and Arizona University Genomics institute for 4 years. His research interests are on the plant genomics, evolution, and molecular breeding. He involved in genome sequencing of rice and Brassica crops. He reported high quality genome sequences and evolution of Panax ginseng. He developed novel NGS-based pipeline for high throughput complete sequencing of plastid and nuclear ribosomal DNA, simultaneously, which is useful for phylogenomics. Recently, he is doing genome sequencing for many medicinal plants such as Cynanchum species, Panax relatives, Pucedanum japonicus as well as genomics-guided molecular breeding for the plants. He is also developing unique DNA markers using the complete sequences of CP genomes and ribosomal DNA and chemical markers to authenticate
Hao-yu Hu is a research assistant in the Pharmacognosy Research Center, Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences since 2017. Before, he studied for Bachelor and PhD at Sichuan University. Throughout this period, he focused mostly on plant taxonomy, flora, biogeography and evolution, and accumulated a wealth of favorable experience in field work and plant identification. His research interests are on the natural resources study of Chinese materia medica, especially resources, diversity and relationships of medicinal plants and their wild relatives. Recently, he mostly focuses in research works on natural resources conservation, cultivation and molecular aided breeding of Panax ginseng, as well as identification and adulterants authentication of precious TCM.
